Calling all natural beauty lovers! Have you been craving a few easy natural beauty hacks to help you ramp up your healthy beauty regime? This week, we decided it was time to look into a few healthier alternatives to our typical chemical-laden makeup products. To help you help your skin, we’re getting in touch with our creative side with these five DIY natural beauty hacks.
1. Treat Yourself To Tea Tree
Tea tree oil has been long known as one of the best, natural sources of antibacterial power. It smells amazing, and can help kill acne-causing bacteria and keep new blemishes from popping up. Tea tree oil can also clean up your pores if they’ve been clogged, and can help keep them dirt and bacteria free! To use, put a drop or two of tea tree oil (100% pure and organic, please!) on a cotton ball, dilute with a few drops of a carrier oil (coconut, olive, or jojoba oil are good options) or saturate with purified water, and dab onto trouble spots.
2. Scrub Your Way To Softer Lips
This lip scrub is one of our all-time favorite DIY natural beauty hacks. It seems like any old do-it-yourself organic beauty product, but it is so much more. Not only will you have softer, tastier, more kissable lips (who doesn’t want that?), but you will also have the amazing taste of sugary lemon in your mouth! Talk about yum! To make the scrub, mix 1 1/4 cup sugar with 1/2 cup of extra virgin olive oil and 2 teaspoons of lemon juice. Combine all ingredients and store in an airtight container (like a mason jar) in the fridge to have a lip scrub on hand for all those unexpected kissable moments.
3. Mask Yourself For Lighter, Brighter Skin
Has all that makeup got your skin down lately? If you’ve been suffering from drab, dull skin syndrome that can sometimes happen with heavy use of makeup, this turmeric face mask is one of the organic beauty products you need to have in your life. Start with 2 tablespoons of ground oats and add 1 teaspoon turmeric powder along with 3 tablespoons of milk. Add in a teaspoon or so of honey, mix, slather on and then rinse off after a few minutes. Ta-dah! Instantly brighter, lighter, and happier skin!
4. Get That Chocolate Bronze Glow
If you’ve been looking for an extra pop of natural bronze, try checking your kitchen pantry! Organic cocoa powder has been known to be the perfect natural bronzer, and the best part is, you will smell like chocolate. Did you read that? You will smell like chocolate. As if you needed an excuse to use organic makeup more often, this easy bronzer will be the best thing you’ve ever done for your cheeks. Making the do it yourself bronzer is incredibly simple: mix organic cocoa powder with a bit of cinnamon and powdered sugar (or baby powder). There is no exact recipe for this bronzer, as it depends on your skin tone! Mix up a few different batches to find the glow that’s just right for you.
5. Scrub A Dub Dub For Exfoliating Power
Scrubs are the best way to take advantage of DIY natural beauty hacks. This coffee scrub is simple, smells delicious, and is the perfect way to wake up your skin while exfoliating away all of the imperfections caused by overuse of makeup and underuse of hydrating skin products. To make this easy scrub, combine 3 tablespoons of coffee grounds (preferably fresh) with 1 tablespoon of natural oil of your choice (we love coconut and olive!) and 1 tablespoon of brown sugar. Voila! Clean, fresh, invigorated!
