Everyone lives for a great MAC collab. From Nicki Minaj to Lady Gaga to even YouTube star Patrick Starrr, these iconic collections never disappoint. After years of teasing this collab and determination from fans, the Aaliyah 12-piece collection is finally coming on June 20th to pay tribute to her legacy.
The MAC x Aaliyah Collection will include lip pencils, lipsticks, glosses, a bronzer and an eyeshadow palette. A lot of the product names ring a bell, such as “1 in a Million,” “Try Again,” and “More Than a Woman.”
With the help of Aaliyah’s brother, Rashad Haughton, all of these shades embody who she was and what she likely would’ve worn herself (they actually kept her makeup collection and showed her lipsticks to MAC). We can’t get over the glam ‘90s vibes:
4 Lipsticks
All 4 lipstick shades would’ve looked phenomenal on Aaliyah, and they also compliment a wide range of skin tones that her fans can wear in her honor. There’s a soft muted beige for more toned-down looks, or bump it up with some loud reds or this unique speckled black shade. The packaging is a metallic burgundy with Aaliyah’s signature in silver!
4 Lipglasses
To compliment the lipsticks or to be worn alone, 2 of these lip glass shades – “At Your Best” and “1 In a Million” resemble colors Aaliyah wore in her iconic music videos and album covers. The other 2 – “Brooklyn Born” and “Li Li’s Motor City” represent the city she was born in (New York), plus the city she was raised in (Detroit).
2 Lip Liners
As a base for both the lipsticks and lipglasses, you can choose between a bright red lip liner, called “Follow Your Heart,” and a dark shade called “Nevermore,” to channel your inner R&B superstar.
Bronzing Powder
Though the bronzing powder only comes in one shade, its described as a “pure golden shade with soft pearl that gives skin sheer, natural color and bronzes the face.” So, you’ll be able to get that radiant Aaliyah glow with this powder!
Eyeshadow Palette
At just 15 years old, Aaliyah dropped her first album called “Age Ain’t Nothing.” So, it’s only fitting that this is what the collection’s eyeshadow palette is called, and it’s so ‘90s glam. It comes with 9 different shades, ranging from browns to purples to pinks, so Aaliyah fans will have a lot of fun with this one!
