Exfoliating your skin is a very important step and should be part of your skincare regimen. You should exfoliate your skin about once a week to remove the dead skin cells and other impurities. Exfoliating also helps keep your complexion clear and skin looking healthy. Checkout some of these homemade face scrub recipes that will have your skin smooth as butter in minutes!
Give Me Some Sugar
Sugar makes one of the best homemade face scrubs. It’s a natural source of glycolic acid which boosts new cell production and breaks protein that keep the dead skin cells holding on to your skin. Take some organic cane sugar and mix it with 1-2 drops of water and 1-2 drops of olive, jojoba, grapeseed or almond oil. Massage into your skin, but don’t be too abrasive!
From Sea to Shining Sea
A sea salt scrub is another great homemade face scrub that really works. The trace minerals rejuvenate your skin, stimulate cell growth and it also helps retain moisture. This scrub is ideal for anyone with dry skin. Sprinkle a small amount sea salt with lavender essential oil and/or your favorite massage oil (olive, jojoba, grapeseed, or almond) and scrub slow and gentle.
Feed Your Skin
Oatmeal is super yummy for breakfast, but also great for your skin. This is a very gentle exfoliating scrub for your skin, so anyone with sensitive skin, should make this homemade face scrub. Oatmeal is a natural anti-inflammatory and it’s also incredibly moisturizing. Take some finely ground oatmeal with honey (or yogurt) and scrub your face using a circular motion. Let it sit for about 15 minutes and then rinse off.
Let’s Get Raw
Raw honey is antibacterial, antifungal and antiviral– so it really does the skin and body good! Raw honey is known for killing skin infections, promoting blemish-free skin. Honey can be mixed with any of the exfoliates mentioned to boost antibacterial and antioxidant benefits.
Creamy Skin
Our last homemade face scrub is made with Kefir which is like yogurt, but with a lot more beneficial bacterial (and better results!). Kefir is a natural source of lactic acid; it helps hydrate and soothe your skin. Mix some oatmeal or sugar with the kefir and scrub your face gently. You can also just use the kefir alone as a mask and your skin will feel soft for days. Make sure you don’t skip out on your facial moisturizer after!
