Can you believe it? It’s almost time for Halloween! Next it’ll be Christmas, then a whole new year. What kind of trickery is this!? As time rolls on, we get to revisit all our favorite makeup holidays, and Halloween is certainly at the top. Not everyone has the time or skill to do an elaborate spooky look complete with special effects. However, we can always pick killer color combos and keep our glam.
While tinkering in our makeup collection we paired together some of the best Halloween eyeshadow and lip color combinations. Here goes!
Vampy eggplant lips and charcoal eyes
Let your inner film noir siren sing out with deep, cool-toned lips in a daring purple shade. Pair with dramatic charcoal eyes in a hazy charcoal shade. Polish it off with a razor-sharp black liquid wing. Add light and dimension to the look with icy silver highlight on the tops of the cheeks, brow bone, and nose ridge.
Top picks: Allure for the pout and Posh for the peepers (from the Boujee palette).
Monochrome pumpkin spice lips and lids
Let’s take things along a nicer route, a sweeter, brighter one if you will. Not everyone’s into the scary stuff! Embrace Halloween by paying homage to the squash of the season, the lovely pumpkin. Warm orange lips paired with sunburst-orange eyeshadow and jet black liner. Tie it all in with an apricot blush and golden highlight for a sunnier, California-style Halloween look.
Top picks: Private Island from the Boujee palette or the entire top row from the Whimsical Garden palette. For the lips, I love Let’s Make Out, gorgeous on all skin tones.
Ghoulish green lips and black lids
Take this opportunity to experiment with an unconventional lip color like deep green. You might be surprised at how wearable a dark, emerald-toned color is on many skin tones. To keep it chic and avoid clashing, keep the lids dark, neutral, and smoky with a black shadow. Use a tissue, piece of paper, or under-eye pad to catch any sooty fallout! Buff the shade into the lid then use a clean brush to smooth the edges. Add fluttery falsies.
Top picks: Liprechaun and Secret Baegent from the Investiglam palette.
Blood-red lips and blue eyes
Take inspiration from Halloween icon Lily Munster and go for polished, retro-glam with red lips and blue shadow. If your complexion is pale, make it even paler with layers of power a couple of shades lighter than your own. For the brows, draw them sharp, thin, and arched to the heavens. This look is best with a gloss or shine-finish red lip, so layer some clear gloss over your long-wear matte lippie. Buff a light layer of blue over the entire lid and finish with black mascara.
Tip picks: Glamrock (glossy red!) or You Da Pom with Sweet N’ Juicy over the top. For the eyes, Bright Side from He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not couldn’t be better.
