We are to the moon with this comic-style Spock makeup by the impossibly talented @argenapeede. If your inner geek has loved Star Trek for the past 5 decades, then you are gonna love this! Not trying to start a Star Battle here (Trek vs Wars) but we might have a bit of a preference. 😉
Argenis paints himself into this ever-wise and inspirational character from this classic cult phenomenon (ears included!) that graced your TV sets for 5 decades. And we have the details for you right here, if you’re inner Trekkie is just dying to resurface.
How To Get The Look!
Start with a light-shade, full-coverage foundation all over your face. Using a pale foundation is gonna help give the pop-art style effect. (Argenis is using Ben Nye Matte HD in CN001) After you get all pasty, set your cream with a loose powder and start contouring your face with a fluffy domed brush and a cool contour shade to get the narrow and angular facial features you see on Spock. Grab a small blending brush and a buffing brush with a flat top to go ahead and add some detailed contouring to bring out the facial features.
When you get your face all contoured and looks about 10lbs thinner, grab an angled liner brush and a black cream to add some crazy angular Spock brows! E.l.f. cream liner works great as an inexpensive black liner, that’s what Argenis uses in this look. Using the same cream liner, and an angled or pointed liner brush, start adding in the black detail lines. Make sure you line your eyes top and bottom, and line your lips with the same, filling in the top lip.
Use a fluffy blending brush to add in white highlight to the cheekbones, nose, and other highlight areas. Then you are ready to get your hair done! Use a flat foundation brush and layer black and gray on your head. Using a liner brush, you can go into both paints and add individual hair strands. If you wanna really sell the look, grab some prosthetic ears! You can pick some Star Wars ears up at your local makeup FX store or even Amazon! Use liquid latex or an FX adhesive to apply them, and paint them in the same technique you used on your face. And if you’re truly committed– you can go ahead and paint some black lines onto a teal shirt, and you look like you just stepped off the Starship Enterprise!
