If you were to walk through the beauty world’s hall of fame, you’d no doubt see Pixi’s Glow Tonic along the way. Why, you ask? Because not only did it completely revolutionise the toner game, it also gives hardcore results, which is really all we want when it comes to skincare. Let’s delve a little deeper into why this liquid is deserving of the endless hype surrounding it…
Before Glow Tonic, when we talked about facial toners, we’d think of that awful drying liquid that smelled of somewhere between paint and straight up alcohol that would leave our skin feeling tight, dry and stripped of all goodness. Completely (and thankfully) free of alcohol, Glow Tonic changed the game by offering something that would gently exfoliate, tone and revitalise the skin without stripping it. Magic!
The word ‘acid’ can seem scary at first glance, but glycolic acid used within Glow Tonic is derived from fruit, is entirely safe and the concentration of the glycolic acid used sits at a fairly mild five-percent and is blended with aloe vera, making it suitable for all skin types including sensitive skins. The glycolic acid works to eat away at dead ski cells, clarify the skin, even skin tone and increase cell-turnover, which in turn means that congestion, dullness, pigmentation, dry patches, large pores, acne and premature ageing can all be reduced.
We all know by now that most skincare ingredients and products work their magic over a long period of time and that results take a while to be visible, but the beauty of Glow Tonic is that it works instantly. If you’re using it to fade pigmentation, it will take a little longer, but immediately after usage, skin looks brighter and any dryness, dullness and rough, dry patches are instantly gone. We also know that skincare treatments and ingredients such as acids can often come with an eye-wateringly high price tag, so another (yes, another) reason we love GT is that it is quite affordable and available in drugstores.
And as much as we love Glow Tonic, it is important to note that SPF is even more essential than usual after using it. Acids can increase your skin’s photo-sensitivity for up to a week after usage, so it’s important to apply the correct amount of SPF and re-apply throughout the day after using this product!
