Playing with makeup is fun and all but if you don’t pay attention to how much you’re spending, it could really add up over time. Whether you’re a complete pro with makeup or you’re just getting started, all of us can appreciate a couple of money-saving hacks.
Here are some tips for saving money on makeup without compromising your glam!
1. Do your research
The general rule of thumb for every single beauty enthusiast? It’s never a good idea to purchase makeup on a whim.
When it comes to shopping for new products, doing your research is sooo important. If not, you could end up with a bunch of products that are just straight up disappointing, and this is easily avoided by checking out a couple of reviews first.
Unfortunately, we all know how the excitement in doing some retail therapy can cloud our judgement every now and then. As an added bonus, this additional step buys you some more time to reconsider whether or not you really NEED this product in your life. And in most cases, probably not.
2. Alternate between drugstore and high-end brands
There are a ton of high-end products that are worth every single penny BUT you don’t have to splurge on every product in your makeup collection.
3. Moderation is key
In recent years, drugstore brands have really stepped up their game and beauty enthusiasts have done a fantastic job at identifying the best dupes out there!
If there’s an expensive product that you absolutely cannot live without, then you should ALSO grab the drugstore version. Investing in both versions means that you can alternate between the two – and you can save the expensive stuff for the extra important days.
4. Take a look at your current makeup collection
Before buying more makeup, ALWAYS do a double-take of your current makeup collection. Figure out if the products on your wish list are actually a necessity or you just want them – plain and simple.
Honestly, you might already have some variation of the same product sitting in your makeup drawer but you just forgot about it. Before showing your long-lost products some love, just make sure you check out the expiration date!
