Throwback Beauty Trends That Are Making A Comeback

Posted by Lanie Edwards on Apr 09, 2018

We all know that history repeats itself, and beauty trends are no exception. Sometimes we just wanna channel our inner ‘90s pop princess, and these days, everyone is so here for it. We may cycle through trends quickly, but some just keep coming back in full force. Check out these throwback beauty trends that have been making a comeback lately!

1. Body Shimmer (2000’s)

Fenty Beauty continues to drop highly anticipated and on-trend products, and the most recent one is giving us serious early 2000 vibes. Back in the day, body shimmer was a girl’s best friend. Our favorite celebrities rocked it (Britney Spears, Ashlee Simpson, Brandy), and now it’s making a comeback with Fenty Beauty’s Body Lava.

Body Lava is a gel-based illuminator that comes in two shades: “Brown Sugar” and “Who Needs Clothes?!” Both will give you that shimmering, radiant glow that we all craved when we saw our queens of the 2000’s wearing it, and you can get it at Sephora or online. Or, you can always go to Claire’s of course.

2. Hair Barrettes and Clips (‘90s)

This hair trend is making a major comeback, and for good reason. It’s adorable and can really take a hairstyle and outfit to the next level. It’s also super easy to recreate! Just grab some barrettes, slick your hair down, and pop those suckers in. Match your shoes with them! People may think you’re 10 years younger than you are, but since when is that a bad thing?

Blue Eyeshadow (‘90s)

Blue eyeshadow was the go-to glam eye look back in the ‘90s. Now it has finally come out of retirement, especially with the release of the KKW x Mario Eyeshadow palette. Everyone can’t stop talking about the striking blue shade in the palette called “Libra,” because it’s so damn beautiful and the pigment is out of this world.

And no, you don’t have to pack blue eyeshadow all over your lid with minimal blending and crazy liner like back in the day (Angelina… wyd girl?). Instead, you can play with it by adding a pop of color along your lash line, use it as an eyeliner, or create a beautiful blue smokey eye like Kim K.

Frosted Lipstick and Gloss (‘90s)

After years of matte lipstick obsession, frosted lipstick and gloss is back, baby. Frosted lipstick was everything in the ‘90s, and don’t even get me started on Lip Smacker. Most girls didn’t leave the house without it, and icy lips were constantly all over the red carpet. After taking a little hiatus, frosty and glossy lips are back and feel like a breath of fresh air.

We even have some from our LiveGlam Lippie Club, KissMe! With this subscription, you can get 3 beautiful, trendy shades delivered straight to your door for just $19.99 a month. Our formula is flexible, cruelty-free, and long-lasting! We also offer all different finishes – mattes, gloss, metallics, satin, etc. Head here to learn more and get those lips poppin’.

Brown Lips (‘90s)

Aside from frosted lips, brown lips were also a huge staple in the ‘90s. I mean, what are we without moody lipstick? Though we can leave overplucking of eyebrows in the ‘90s, brown lips can be worn by any skin tone and still look fabulous in 2018. One of our favorite shades is our matte brown lippie in “Sugar Daddy” from our March KissMe Collection! If you didn’t get your hands on this, make sure to head to your Dashboard and find it in Rewards or Trade!

What are your favorite throwback trends you’ve been rocking lately?

Stay glam!
