What’s your go-to lippie trend for 2020-2021? Are you going for a juicy gloss or a bold-toned matte lippie? If you need a little inspiration for how to dress your lips this chilly season, here’s a rundown of the best lipstick trends for winter 2020-2021.
Velvety matte red
An opaque matte red lipstick will never go out of style, especially during those coat-worthy months. Red lips against a snow-covered backdrop? Stunning. My all-time favorite red (recently!) is the ‘Spicy’ lippie from the Feelin Fantas-Taco Collection. It is a true, blue-based red that works on all skin tones and has the softest, most flattering finish.
Peachy sheer gloss
Winter can make our lips a little hard to work with when it comes to dry skin and unwanted texture. To remedy this and make the lips pop without drying them out, choose a hydrating gloss.
A universally-flattering shade such as nude peach with gold flecks is so easy to apply without a liner, mirror, or care in the world. The ‘Salsa’ gloss from the Feelin Fantas-Taco Collection is hands-down the best peach gloss ever (fact!).
Blurred berry stain
If you want bold color but you don’t want the commitment of a full-on coat of lippie, go for a blurry stain. Berry tones are perfect for this, as they give that sultry look that says “I’ve just been eating blackberries and sipping Moscow mules”.
Dab the lipstick sparingly over the lips then use your fingers to blend, blur, and soften the color. This also works well when layered with a hydrating balm. My favorite berry shade is Mi Amor from the Cuter Than Cupid February 2019 Collection.
Deep nude with a pale pink center
If you want to throw off the traditional red or berry-toned looks this season, go for a sexy, ombre nude. Apply a deep nude all over the lip, a few shades deeper than your natural lip color. Then, dab and blend a pale pink shade into the center of the lip to create the illusion of fullness and dimension. This is a great look to pair with a bright or bold festive eye without competing for the color spotlight.
The Muah! Lip crayon is ideal for your deep nude, and Royalty is ideal for that pale dab in the center.
