How to Make Your Eyes Appear Less Tired!

How to Make Your Eyes Appear Less Tired!

In a perfect world, we’d all go to bed at a reasonable hour and wake up feeling (and looking) super refreshed. But in reality, the distractions are plentiful. Maybe you stayed up to binge the latest Netflix release. Or perhaps, you just couldn’t stop scrolling through Insta – it happens.

But with the right makeup techniques, let’s keep it a secret that you barely caught some Z’s the night before. Here are a couple tips for achieving wider, brighter eyes on the days you just can’t wait to crawl right back into bed!

1. Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate

Adequate hydration – inside and out – is soo much more important when you’re tired AF. Give yourself a natural boost of energy by drinking plenty of water throughout the day.

Take it up a notch with your skincare regimen the night before and the morning after. Bring out the face serums and oils to prepare your skin for the rough morning ahead! They’re great for replenishing moisture levels while providing our skin with a healthy dose of nutrients.

2. Add a wing to your eyeliner

A classic, thin cat-eye can be a fantastic pick-me-up for when you need to look more awake! Here’s the best way to achieve the perfect wing when you’re pressed for time.

Start off at the outer corner of your eye. Use a liquid eyeliner to draw a line going upwards and outwards, then bring it back down toward the eye to complete an outline for your wing. Fill in the outline, then work your way backwards with short strokes to line the rest of your eye.

3. Use highlighter as eyeshadow

Brighten up your eyes by adding a generous amount of highlighter into the inner corners. To glam things up a bit, use an eyeshadow brush (or your finger) to apply a fair amount of highlighter into your crease with a forwards and backwards sweeping motion.

4. Add mascara to your lower lashes

This is THE most important step when it comes to achieving wider eyes. Apply a coat of mascara (one that lengthens and separates) to your bottom lashes. Keep in mind that before you apply mascara to your bottom lashes, you should line your lower lash line with a black eyeliner to pull the entire look together!

Position the wand at the root of your lashes, then gently wiggle it through them to evenly coat each and every lash. Add more emphasis to your outer lashes by applying a little more mascara with a swift, sweeping motion.
