How to Change Your Hair Without Getting it Cut
Want to change your hair look but don’t want/can’t afford/can’t be bothered getting a haircut or color? Same! It can be done…with accessories. Hair accessories aren’t just for 12-year olds. (Any 90’s kids out there who wore a million sparkling butterfly clips? The good days). Hair accessories are affordable, fun and completely temporary! No tears or regrets required. Plus, if you’re not a jewelry gal but you still want that sparkle, glam-up your hair.
Diamante, pearl and velvet head-bands
I adore headbands because they don’t pull or tug at my hair, they give that extra height on flat hair days, and they’re a great way to add sparkle to an otherwise boring day. They’re also great for greasy up-do hair days when you want to cover some of that uh…situation up there. This is my top pick!
Styling idea: contrast a grungy tee, ripped jeans and ankle boots with a diamante-embellished velvet headband.
Embellished combs
I love hair combs, there’s something very vintage and romantic about them. I got thinking about hair combs when gazing at the beauty looks at the Tory Burch Spring 2020 show at NYFW. In fact, NYFW was full of exquisite hair accessory goodness…
Combs are the perfect mix between super practical and achingly pretty. This one here is very expensive, but I had to include it because it’s so stunning, handmade and perfect for bridal-wear…or everyday at the office.
Styling idea: bridge the gap between hair up and hair down by pinning back the front-sides of your locks with combs, leaving the lengths free and flowing.
Pretty clips
Clips serve two main purposes: getting your hair out of your face or keeping shorter strands in place. And…they add color, sparkle and detail to your overall look.
Brand shout-out: Margherita is a brand which makes THE sweetest, cutest, prettiest hair accessories. (I may already have told you guys about them, but I’ll tell ya again!). They make shimmery, gleaming, often shell-inspired slides and clips. Perfect for girls and guys who love pale pastel tones and love to channel the ocean.
Scrunchies
Excuse me, 1995 called…okay, that’s too lame, I can’t even write the rest. But yes, scrunchies are back in a huge way, and I love it. They don’t pinch and pull, they’re soft and kind of whimsical and girly, and there’s a million different varieties out there. Scrunchies are a lifesaver because they don’t create that annoying hair tie kink in straight or wavy hair.
These Fall scrunchies are mega cute, and they’re handmade! I adore the green linen one.
Have fun loading your locks with prettiness!
