As an industry that thrives on constant innovation and exciting consumers with new launches and releases, it’s no surprise that we’re in a never-ending circle of trends. And although they all serve their purpose of offering inspiration for spicing up our looks each season, some of them just aren’t wearable or practical. With that in mind, we’ve hand-picked a few of our favourite trends that are more than just a passing fad, and ones that we see standing the test of time!
Glossy Lids
Admittedly, this isn’t the most wearable trend of all time, but after being exclusively rocked on the catwalk and editorial shoots for years, 2017 was the year that the wet lid look was available for the masses with the likes of YSL, Bobbi Brown and Estee Lauder X Victoria Beckham launching eye glosses. If you’re reluctant to jump in at the deep end, try applying a cream highlighter or Vaseline to your lids to see if you like the look on you!
Glitter, everywhere
2017 saw glitter being used here, there and everywhere (even hair partings and tongues…seriously), but our fave beauty guru Instagrammers take a slightly subtler approach and apply theirs to the centre of their lids and inner corners of their eyes for a hint of glam.
Embellished Braids
Arguably the coolest hair trend of the year, braids accented with metal rings or cuffs are actually quite easy to achieve; hair noobs, rejoice! The look just requires you to pull your hair through your metal loop accessory every couple of inches as you braid your hair.
Sheet Masks
Of course, sheet masks have dominated the skincare market in the Middle East for decades, but their popularity in the West has seemed to snowball this year. It’s no real mystery as to why they’re so well-loved; they’re typically cotton sheet masks doused in hyaluronic acid rich serums that work to really penetrate, plump and hydrate the skin, and we can’t seem to get enough of them! While we’re on the topic of sheet masks, we’d recommend squeezing out the (very generous) remains of the product in the packaging, and applying to your neck and décolletage to get the most out of your mask!
Korean Beauty
With K-beauty seemingly being amongst the top beauty buzzwords of 2017, it’s no surprise that there are more stockists and retailers offering Korean beauty products on the daily. We’ve also seen Korean trends trickle down into the likes of predominantly Western brands in the form of cushion foundations and skin essences; both of which we’re big fans of! Ombre lips and jelly lip tints are also a couple of Korean-born trends that we’re partial to!
