What are the best drugstore makeup products?
What’s the biggest mistake you can make when it comes to buying makeup? Splurging on every single high-end product that catches your eye!
The cosmetics industry has truly stepped up their game with their drugstore brands! You can find several hidden gems at your local drugstore that’ll give you similar results as the high-end stuff, but at a fraction of the cost.
By introducing more drugstore brands into your makeup collection, you get to save a couple bucks (well, more than a couple) that can be used towards your next makeup haul!
Drugstore makeup can really be hit or miss… so to save you time and money, here are a couple of products that have already proven themselves to be totally worth the hype!
1. MAYBELLINE Fit Me Matte + Poreless Foundation
Maybelline’s Fit Me Matte + Poreless Foundation ($8) is one of the best drugstore foundations!
Its super lightweight formula offers you buildable coverage from medium to heavy. And you really don’t get that cakey mask-like feeling that you get from a lot of liquid foundations!
TL;DR: If you have oily skin, you need this foundation ASAP. The only con? There isn’t much of a shade range. But the simple solution is to grab two different shades and mix them together to create your own custom shade. Even so, it’d still cost you way less than one bottle of the expensive stuff!
Splurge: This foundation is a hybrid of Urban Decay’s Naked Skin Weightless Ultra Definition Liquid Makeup ($49) and MAC’s Studio Fix Fluid ($30). How? Maybelline Fit Me is the perfect dupe for either foundation, but it gives you more coverage than Urban Decay’s Naked Skin Foundation, and less coverage than MAC Studio Fix Fluid.
2. COVERGIRL LashBlast Volume Mascara
Covergirl’s LashBlast Volume Mascara ($7-9) is one of the top mascaras you can find at the drugstore. This mascara will give you volume, length, and just about anything else you look for in a mascara. But the best part is that you don’t have to worry about clumps! The wand does a phenomenal job at defining your lashes.
Splurge: This mascara is a dupe for Benefit’s they’re real! lengthening mascara ($32).
3. NYX Micro Brow Pencil
NYX Cosmetics’ Micro Brow Pencil ($12) is at the top of the game when it comes to drugstore eyebrow products! The retractable pencil is incredibly thin, which makes it ideal for adding more definition and detail to your brows. Especially if you want to create hair-like strokes!
Splurge: This brow pencil is the perfect dupe for Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz ($21). But the only difference I noticed (which is worth mentioning), is that NYX’s Micro Brow Pencil has less staying power if you have oily skin!
