5 Creative Makeup Artists to Follow
Seeing people who dedicate their work and life to makeup is so incredibly inspiring. It reminds us that makeup is all about creating, innovating, playing, experimenting, imagining, shocking and beautifying. Seriously, makeup is a powerful medium! If you need some daily, out-of-the-box inspiration, here are 5 amazing creative artists to follow!
Katie Jane Hughes
To me, Katie Jane Hughes can do no wrong. Her approach to skin is phenomenal in the sense that she shows her skin. She uses base products with the most incredibly light hand so that her face looks somehow flawless but completely understated at the same time. She’s technically incredible but she’s creatively divine as well (she’s all about texture!). Her tutorials are personable and superbly valuable as she gives all of her knowledge over to the viewer. She shows us how to wear color, daring shapes, and textures in the most everyday-friendly way. Oh and P.S, if you have hooded eyes you must follow her! She gives the best advice and techniques for us hooded eye ladies and gentlemen.
Hung Vanngo
There’s a huge change you already know who Hung Vanngo is, he has 1.3 million Instagram followers and makes up some of the most beautiful famous faces in the world. His feed is an amazing mixture of complete sigh-inducing eye candy (gorgeous model and actress faces everywhere!), and completely attainable inspiration. I turn to Hung’s page when I need some ideas for a look which fuses color, sexiness, defined shapes, beautiful skin and a touch of drama.
Haodoyoungo
I mean…I just…I don’t know what to say. First, look at Hao’s page and then you’ll understand. This young California woman is a true genius with color, shape, angle, line texture and drama. Just LOOK at this. It’s like a whole romantic tale told in one eyeshadow look. With each post, Hao shows us what makeup means and what it can and should do for us. It inspires and it wows and it makes us swoon and it makes us excited for our own journey with color and shade.
Ioana Burlacu (Ioanahq)
Shimmering, shining, oil-slick galaxy eyes. Bold matte pigments placed in a flurry of color, minimal lines and full-face stunners. It’s all over on Ioana Burlacu’s Instagram page. Her work is the kind of work which constantly makes me think, “I would never think of putting that line there, that shape there or mixing those shades”. Her work is ever-surprising and whimsically, achingly satisfying to look at. You must follow Ioanahq if you love close-up eye looks with color, shimmer and shape to make you want to run to your makeup stash for an impromptu play session.
Nikki_Makeup
If I were a successful actress (ha, I wish) I would get Nikki to do my makeup for all shoots and red carpet events. Her work, to me, is like the perfect mix of wearable glamour with elements of surprise, exaggeration and bold creativity all bundled into one glossy, flawless, sexy, achingly beautiful aesthetic. If you love to look to Instagram for your makeup ideas and you’re a dewy skin, defined eye, luscious lips kind of guy or girl, definitely give Nikki a look. What’s more, if you love to learn from the best, then Nikki is a must-have in your feed. Her IG stories are full of invaluable demonstrations showing her technique, approach and tricks up close.
Go ahead and get inspired!
