The Affordable Skincare Product that Celebs & MUAs Are Obsessed With

Posted by Jess Hall on Jul 05, 2018

What can we say: if it’s good enough for the likes of Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Adele, Julia Roberts and Victoria Beckham, it’s good enough for us. And aside from being given the stamp approval of countless celebrities and makeup artists from all corners of the globe, it’s available at the drugstore for an affordable price. And if all that isn’t enough for you, it also just so happens to be an all-natural, sustainably sourced formula – I mean, is there any box this product doesn’t tick?

And the product is…Weleda’s Skin Food. So just what makes it so great and so well-loved? Well, it’s primarily hailed as a great moisturiser but the reason that makeup artists love it and always have it somewhere within their kit is because it’s such a multipurpose and versatile product. As well as a regular moisturiser, it also works as a primer, a hydrating mask, a hand and cuticle cream, a lip balm, and as a remedy for seriously dry skin on the body such as the elbows and feet.

All skin types could benefit from using this nutrient-rich cream, but it’s particularly good for drier and more sensitive skin types as it is seriously rich yet soothing. Organic pansy, calendula and chamomile extract all work to calm irritation with their healing and soothing properties, and the sunflower seed and almond oils work to plump and hydrate the skin as they are packed with fatty acids and vitamin E.

And as much as we love this stuff and think that if we were to test it blindfolded, we would guess that it sat at a La Mer style price tag, it really is seriously thick. It’s almost balmy in consistency and has to be pressed and pushed into the skin rather than rubbed on in circular motions as with a regular moisturiser. We love its thickness, but if you prefer something a little less…dense, you can dilute it with another face cream or a serum to lighten up its texture.

Need a hydrating primer? Skin Food. On a long-haul flight and need a product to stop your skin from looking shrivelled up at the end of it? Skin food. Sun burn? Skin Food. Want an insanely glossy looking highlighter on the tops of your cheekbones? Skin Food. Lips looking chapped? Skin Food. We’re desperately trying to find a problem that this magic little tube can’t solve – seriously.

Have you tried it yet? Let us know!
