2017 was definitely a year of bold experimentation with makeup. With makeup videos taking over our Instagram feeds, some trends came and quickly left, while others stuck around for the whole year. Check out our list of some of the craziest beauty trends that had everyone talking! Were you a fan of any of these?
1. Crazy brows
Squiggle brows, feather brows, braided brows, and anything else you can think of to stick on your brows took over Instagram this year. It all started with the squiggle brows, created by beauty blogger Promise Tamang back in August, that opened the gates for more crazy brow looks.

While I doubt anyone actually left the house like this, avant-garde brows were definitely something to talk about this year.
2. Unicorn everything
2017 was also officially the year of the unicorn. Forget your zodiac, the unicorn has been deemed everyone’s new spirit animal. Whether it was unicorn highlight palettes, nails, hair, or eyeshadow, you likely saw a lot of majestic inspired looks while scrolling down your feed pretty much everyday.

3. Neon Eyeliner
Eyeliner got truly lit in 2017. Nix your typical black winged liner, this was the year of striking neon looks. With these eyes, you can look like a walking rave. And, if the liner isn’t enough, you can always include your lips too.

4. Glitter Roots and Freckles
Glitter never goes out of style, but people got very creative with it this year. Instead of just rocking it on your eyelids, turns out you can dump it all over the parts in your hair instead, or wear them as faux freckles.

I can’t even imagine how long it would take to get all of the glitter out of your hair, but it definitely is a festive look for a fun occasion.
5. Lollipop Lips
You know how crazy your lips look after finishing a lollipop or popsicle? How about after you’ve eaten lunch and your lipstick is smudged all over your mouth (unless you’re wearing our transfer-proof KissMe lippies of course). Well, if you ever wanted to purposefully rock that look, lollipop lips were the trend for you this year!

This trend actually originated on the MAC Cosmetics runway at London Fashion Week back in March. The original look featured the cult favorite “Ruby Woo” lip pencil combined with a MAC Lipglass. If you’ve never been good at tracing your lips, you can always opt for the lollipop look.
