Powder vs. Liquid Foundations: What’s Best For My Skin?

Posted by Preeti Sareen on Nov 14, 2016

You probably have a favorite, most used foundation that you simply can’t live without. Just like eyeliner has its die-hard pencil users or only-liquid liner lovers, most beauty fanatics prefer powdered or liquid foundation. While these foundations can help you achieve different looks, one might be better for your skin type than the other. So, powder vs liquid foundation.. what’s best for you. Read on to find out!

First Up: Powder Foundation

If you have one of the many different skin types out there that is either oily, shiny, or suffers from easy acne breakouts, a powder foundation may be right for you. The truth is that powder foundation is amazing for conquering unwanted shine throughout the day. It’s a great buffer for the naturally oily skin on your face. Another major plus in the battle of powder vs liquid foundation? Powder foundation isn’t usually as expensive as the high-end makeup brands that offer liquid foundation as their main option. In fact, many of the best powder foundations can be found at the drugstore. Some of our favorites include Physician’s Formula and Cover Girl. Of course, if you want to splurge on something a bit pricier, the Bare Minerals powder foundations are amazing. In the end, powder foundation is ideal for those with different skin types that want a lighter but build-able coverage without stacking on layers of wet product.

If you love makeup brushes, you probably love liquid foundation. There is just something so incredibly magical and soothing about taking the time to apply beautiful looking liquid foundation with an expert made makeup brush! (Put those #MorpheMe brushes to good use!) If you don’t have acne prone skin, liquid foundation may be perfect for you. While we love powder foundations, the truth is that a liquid just glides onto the skin easier. It’s definitely more possible to build your ideal coverage with a liquid product. These days, you don’t have to end up with a dewy finish on your skin just because you used a liquid foundation. There are so many wonderful products out there that offer matte finishes – making liquid foundation a total win in our books.

Powder vs. Liquid Foundations: Which One Is Best For Your Skin?

When it comes to powder foundation vs. liquid foundation, we’d say we are probably more lenient towards liquid foundation for general makeup application. But, if your pores get easily clogged and you suffer from excessive breakouts, we think that powder foundation will let your skin take a breather. If you don’t experience acne but you do have dry skin or skin with pigmentation issues that require more coverage, a liquid foundation will be great for you. So, what’s your favorite – powder or liquid? Tell us in the comments down below!
