Long hair, don’t care? How about long hair, totally do care about how to style my crazy long mane! While we love gorgeous long hair, we also know that it can be a complete pain to style. Grooming your luscious locks can take up time, and it can be difficult finding styles that are beautiful and easy. Of course, we here at LiveGlam think that there are a few tricks and hairstyling tips for long hair that every girl should know, and our favorites are below!
1. Sleek and Straight
You can’t go wrong with straightened hair. It might seem time consuming, but the truth is that you can straighten your hair once and leave it for a few days. We recommend making sure your hair is clean (and dry) when straightening, and we also recommend using dry shampoo in the days after creating this style, just to make things last a little longer!
2. Simple Waves
Here is a one of the best tips for gorgeous long hair: simple waves. To achieve this look, braid your hair in two different braids (almost like pigtails!). Spritz on a little hairspray on each braid, go to sleep, wake up the next morning and undo the braids. Done! Easy, super simple waves that took you all of 5 minutes to style.
3. The 80s Feather
Farrah Fawcett was known for her beautiful long hair that feathered out at the ends. We love this hairstyle and think it is slowly coming back in season! To get a less intense Farrah look, comb through your hair as usual and then take a flat iron to your ends. Curl the flat iron away from your face, creating ends that slightly stick outwards.
4. The Headband
Remember the easy days when all you did to style your gorgeous long hair was brush it and put a headband on? Well ladies, we’re here to tell you that this look is totally back in style. It is so easy we can’t believe it, and you can use cute headbands with sequins or bows for an extra pop of individuality!
5. The Curl
Curling long hair can take a while, we know, but similar to flat ironing it, you can leave the look for a few days without worrying about re-styling. Curl as usual, using your preferred heating tool, and use a mix of dry shampoo and hairspray in the days following to maintain your look.
6. The Half and Half
To get this super quick style, simply gather the top half of your hair and tie it back in a loose pony tail, leaving the bottom part of your mane free. It’s classic, elegant, and takes a few seconds!
7. Classic Bangs
If you’d rather have a hairstyle that does the work for you, try getting bangs during your next chop. They can be a bit tricky to get used to styling, but once you have it down, you’ll only spend a few minutes each morning (or less) on your hair.
8. Side Braid
Braids are the lifesavers for long haired girls. You really can’t go wrong with a classic side braid, and it will be a perfect way to show off a slightly Parisian attitude!
9. The Bedhead
Okay ladies, we know you aren’t going to believe us when we say this, but you don’t have to style your hair at all. What? No styling? That’s right! One of the trendiest hairstyles these days is the “I woke up like this” look, which is as it sounds – wake up, maybe brush a comb briefly through your hair (or don’t if that’s your style), and done.
10. Side Part
Sometimes a hairstyle can be as simple as changing your part. If you’ve been rocking a middle part, try changing it up with a side part. It’s an easy hairstyle that will definitely change the look of your hair with almost no effort on your part.
11. Pushed To The Side
If you want a slightly more glam look with minimal effort, leave your long hair out as usual and just push it to one side of your head. If you want to pin it back to keep it in place, you can, but if you are fine with occasionally moving it back to the side, there’s no need to bother!
12. Layered Chop
This is more a haircut than a hairstyle, but if you have natural wavy hair, it may be the only style and cut you’ll ever need. Next time you’re getting a chop, ask for short layers and a downward angle. Your naturally long and wavy hair will instantly perk up, and will have perfect beach waves all the time – from just a simple cut!
13. The French Braid
We’ve already mentioned that braids are the best long hairstyles, and the french braid is no exception. This braid is so timeless, it is perfect year round. For a different look, try braiding in a piece of colored yarn or two into the style!
14. Messy Bun
If you really can’t be bothered with your long hair, this hairstyle is perfect for you. All you have to do is lightly brush your hair, gather it all together, and put up in a messy (but chic!) bun.
15. Long Braids
If you don’t like fussing with your hair, try asking your hairstylist to give you all over braids. It will look great and be far easier to take care of than your natural, messy mane.
16. Crimped Strands
This style is totally 90’s, but we love it and think it should come back for good! If you have a crimping wand, simply crimp your hair. As with flat ironing and curling, you can get a few days out of this look, and it will definitely turn a few heads!
17. Slicked Back
If you want that “I just got out of the shower and my hair looks gorgeous” look, try using gel or oil in your hair to keep it slicked back, like Kim K or Kendall Jenner. It does take a bit more product than other styles, but is so easy to use and looks incredibly sexy.
