Lashes are one of the few things in life that instantly ramp up your beauty regimen. Feeling tired? Throw on a pair of falsies. Dull complexion? Time to get your tweezers and adhesive out. With the blink of an eye, the right pair of lashes can turn your whole look (and confidence) around!
But if you’re anything like me, you’ve probably struggled with the whole “lashes lifting” and/or “glue everywhere” nightmare. With a little research (and a lot of trial and error) I’ve finally discovered the best method for applying false eyelashes like a pro. Follow these steps for the perfect lash application, every time!
Step 1: Find The Right Pair Of Lashes
Before we talk about application method, it’s important that we discuss the fact that all eyes (and lashes) are not equal! Choosing the right pair of falsies comes down to your eye shape. For instance, someone with hooded eyes should go for a lightweight, wispy pair of falsies, while someone with downturned eyes probably wants a pair that flares at the outer corners.
Step 2: Prepare Your Natural Lashes
Prep your natural lashes using your eyelash curler to help your falsies blend seamlessly into your natural lashes. If you want to hide the lash spine, a thin layer of black eyeliner will do the trick! To help you falsies stick to your natural lashes, use a thin coat of mascara on your natural lashes.
Step 3: Get Your Glue Ready
Apply a small amount of lash glue onto a small surface. Pour a small amount of eyelash glue onto a tissue, piece of paper, etc. Using slanted tweezers, hold the lashes in place and apply the glue in a thin, even layer across the spine of your faux lashes. Allow the glue to dry for about 30-40 seconds, until tacky.
Step 4: Apply Your Lashes
Using the same tweezers, line up the lashes exactly where you want them on your lash line. Start at the middle of the lashes and gently push down on the edges so that they’re perfectly aligned. *Pro Tip: Position a mirror under you so that it’s easier to see your lash line.
Step 5: Secure the Ends & Touch-up
Secure your lash band by dabbing a small amount of glue onto the inner and outer corners of the band with a toothpick. This will ensure your lashes won’t lift up on the edges. If you notice any gaps, simply touch up your eyeliner to fill in the space!
