Beauty Products New Moms Will Love

Moms are so strong, nurturing and downright amazing, and they deserve a little pampering. If you’re a new mommy, here are some products that may help you feel more comfortable, nourished, and special during a sleepless (yet lovely) time in your life!

I’m not a Mom (yet), but I am at that stage of life where first-time moms and moms of new-born bubs are all around me. I know that each and every Mom has a different experience, but I think it’s safe to say that sleeplessness and exhaustion are pretty universal in those early few months!

This got me thinking about the beauty products Mom with a newborn would love. I thought about time-constraints, tiredness, and the daily routine of a Mom. I also checked in with my Mom friends to find out what they loved, or would have loved to have and use when their babies were fresh outta the oven.

Nourishing hand cream

Moms wash their hands constantly thanks to the constant nappy changing, spit-up cleaning and bottle, breast-feeding or pumping preparation. This creates dry and uncomfortable hands. A nourishing hand cream which sinks into the skin quickly will help to keep your hands soft, not only for your own comfort, but for the comfort of your sweet little baby’s skin!

My recommendation: I love the Clinique Deep Comfort Hand and Cuticle Cream, ($24). It’s rich and hydrating, yet super gentle for Mom and baby.

Lip balm

Momma needs smooth lips for all those kisses for baby! Plus, sleepless nights and general tiredness seem to go hand-in-hand with dry lips. A soft and nourishing lip balm is easy to use and adds a little touch of comfort and pampering without the pressure of actually applying makeup or an all-out skincare routine.

My recommendation: any of the Hurraw lip balms ($4). They smell and taste delicious, they’re affordable (get her a whole bunch!) and they’re all natural. My go-to is the chocolate flavor, of course.

Dry shampoo

Hey, I don’t even have kids and I struggle to wash my hair as often as I should (cause I’m freakin’ lazy). I can’t imagine how tough it would be for a new Mommy to take the time to get a thorough shampoo session into her routine. Enter the dry shampoo! If you want to feel a little fresher and eliminate greasiness at the roots, spray a dry shampoo into the roots and mid-lengths, rub it in and go. This is great for if you’re heading off to doctor’s appointments or have friends and family coming over to admire your precious little baby creation.

My recommendation: honestly, I can’t go past my personal favorite, the cheap and cheerful (and very effective) Batiste Original Dry Shampoo – Clean & Classic ($8.99). It’s affordable, it does the job, smells great, doesn’t leave white powder all over my roots.

Beauty Products for New Moms

Tinted moisturizer

A tinted moisturizer is ideal for hydrating the skin while evening out the skin tone and giving a soft glow (when using a dewy or satin formula). This is great for new Moms who love a full-glam face but just can’t fathom it right now. When you’re heading out and want to feel a little more like yourself, a tinted moisturizer, concealer, mascara and touch of multi-tasking color on the lips and cheeks will do the trick.

My recommendation: for a really affordable option, I love the Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream ($8.99), however, I know this isn’t everyone’s favorite as the formula is quite sticky (I like that, for some reason!) and the shade range is lacking.

For a more high-end but completely fantastic option, I can’t look past the Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream ($32). It feels fresh on the face, gives a glowing complexion and has SPF30, great for Summertime Moms who spend lots of time outdoors walking their little bundle of cuteness.

Under-eye concealer

Sleepless nights equals undereye dark circles. I know this sounds so strange but I actually love the look of darkness around the eyes on many women, I think it looks kind of moody and interesting on the face (am I a weirdo? Maybe). However, if you or your Mommy friend feel more like themselves (and more awake) when cancelling out those dark bags, a quick and hydrating under-eye concealer should be front and center on the bathroom counter.

My recommendation: good old Maybelline Age Rewind ($9.99). Easy, affordable, doesn’t crease, blends in a flash. Predictable, I know, but why mess with a good thing?!

Multi-tasking lip/cheek

I know that when I am a Mom in the near future I will still be my same makeup-loving self and will still crave that pop of color. However, I absolutely will not be standing in front of the mirror contouring, layering different blush shades and using 12 different lip products as usual. The answer? A multi-tasking, nourishing (take a drink every time I say “nourishing”) color balm. Dab it onto the lips, rub into the cheeks, done.

My recommendation: Nudestix Nudies Bloom All Over Dewy Color ($32). I love these sticks because they give a fresh, dewy, skin-like finish and pretty, feminine color. Plus, they have a brush on one end for buffing color into the skin.

Hydrating shower cream

A sleep-deprived new Mom probably won’t have the time or energy to apply a full-body moisturizing cream. However, she still appreciates and deserves hydrated skin. Kill two birds with one stone and get your hydrating done in the shower (when you get the chance to enjoy one!). An in-shower hydrating cream washes off immediately, no need to wait for it to sink in. Get in, slather it on, wash it off, get out. Done.

My recommendation: this is my favorite, the Eucerin In-Shower Moisturizer ($17.49). I love that it is fragrance free, reasonably affordable and super effective on my dry skin.

All my love and hugs to all the new Moms, Dads and bubs out there!
