Alternative Ways to Use Makeup!

The biggest beauty myth? That you have to buy a million different makeup products to complete a single look!

Truth is, there are plenty of ways to use most of the products in your beauty drawer. Not to mention, you get to save a couple of bucks from cutting out products that aren’t completely necessary (which means more $$ to shop with).

Curious what else you can do with your highlighter or bronzer? Here are 4 alternative ways to use most of the makeup products you already own!

1. Use highlighter as eyeshadow

No eyeshadow? No problem!

Highlighter works incredibly well as eyeshadow. It works even better when you combine a couple different shades to create a multi-dimensional color for your lids!

To complete a dewy, fresh-faced look, apply highlighter over your lids with your finger. Going full glam? Wet a brush before dipping it into your highlighter to amp up the intensity.

This is a great way to use up those bold highlighter colors you picked up just because they were way too pretty to let go of!

2. Prime your t-zone with eyeshadow primer

Out of face primer? No sweat – or actually, no oil! Apply a layer of Urban Decay’s Eyeshadow Primer Potion ($24) to your t-zone area for the ultimate staying power. You’ll be happy to hear this also helps to keep the shine away for the majority of the day!

3. Get your highlight poppin’ with eyeshadow

Now, we already know we can use highlighter as eyeshadow… but you can also do this the other way around.

Ditch the highlighter! Just use eyeshadow with a satin finish. There are a number of reasons why you should use eyeshadow instead. Besides the unlimited color options, you also have a number of different formulas and finishes to choose from. AND you can get a bunch of eyeshadow singles for the price of one high- end highlighter.

Pro-tip: Create your own custom highlight by mixing a softer color (pink, blue, lilac) with a white, silver, or champagne color that has shimmer.

4. Bronzer as eyeshadow

Use your fav bronzer to bring some warmth to your eyes! Bronzer works beautifully as a nude eyeshadow when you’re going for a more natural, subtle makeup look.
