Find Your Perfect Foundation!

Posted by LiveGlam on Jan 21, 2018

Are you on the search for your perfect foundation? Finding the right foundation for your skin can be a daunting task with so many options to choose from! We’re here to help you with a bit of a breakdown!

Keep reading to see how each formula works and find the best one for your skin!

Liquid foundations are great for buildable coverage and (usually!) work really well for oily and combo skin types! The liquids usually have a silicone or water base, which is what you sparkly babes need to look out for. This will help achieve a more matte finish and prevent shine from forming! They typically come in a bottle with a pump top or some other similar system.

Stick foundation can be a bit creamy or a slightly more dry! This makes stick foundations really versatile for different skin types. The creamier sticks, like MUFE, are perfect for dry skin. The dryer sticks, like ABH, is great for oily skin. So stick foundations may be perfect for you guys with combination skin. Use a dense buffing brush, like my bae the RG8 from LiveGlam MorpheMe, to get a smooth application!

Cream foundations are just so creamy. This formula is for you thirsty skin babes out there! The creamy foundation will not set into dry patches like the liquid and stick counterparts have been known to. Try a foundation brush a bit on the fluffier side for your creams! The LiveGlam MorpheMe G39 is the kinda brush you’re looking for. The formula moves around so easily, you just don’t need the extra buffing power. Cream foundations are typically more full coverage, and might need a bit of powder to set!

If you like a super lightweight coverage, then tinted moisturizers are probably your jam. There are also some BB creams that are a bit less moisturizing, too! These types of coverage are very light and skin-like. It’s kinda like not wearing makeup at all! I personally like to use a damp or dry blending sponge for these products! The dry sponge will give you just a bit extra coverage. These guys are a dry-skin’s dream come true, they moisturize and cover. If you’re more on the combo or oily side, you might need to set with some powder!

Powder foundations are like the OG’s of foundation! The first foundation available to public was the “Pan-Cake” foundation and powder in one! Don’t let their ancient history turn you off, there’s a reason why they’ve lasted this long! Powder foundations are a great way to even out your skin tone, control oil, and achieve any type of coverage. You can layer a powder foundation over a medium-light coverage base to amp it up! Use a denser round foundation brush or sponge to get more coverage from your powder, or a big fluffy brush for a medium-light coverage. But dry-skin beware! While some powder foundations may work for you, you might find that other will highlight dry patches.

Finding the right foundation can be fun and rewarding if you have a helping hand. Be sure to prime your face with a compatible primer to prevent any patchy foundation action. Setting your foundation of any formula with a translucent powder will increase the longwear of it, too! Tell me some of your favorite foundations in the comments.
